Christchurch Botanical Gardens

It was one of those days where we weren't quite sure if it was going to rain or shine, so we decided to go "local" and take a trip down to the Botanical Gardens in Christchurch. First stop, brekkie at the cafe in the gardens and then a study of the map to see where to go first. We decided to head down to the rhododendrons first as they were all out in flower.

The Botanical Gardens were opened in 1864 and many of the species were bought over from England. It's definitely worth a visit and takes a couple of hours to walk around. Warren was a bit disappointed with the bonsai collection(!) and the rose garden wasn't yet in bud so we'll go back in the summer.
