Folks in the Boonies - Chapter Three

After Queenstown we had a few days R&R and the folks took the car and headed for Hanmer where they stayed in the Heritage Hotel and really enjoyed the break from us kids!

We all spent the next few days exploring the local area, taking them off-road from Lake Lyndon to Lake Coleridge, across to Banks Peninsula and the gorgeous French settlement of Akaora and pootling around down at the Waimakariri Gorge with Summer.

The weather was really awesome, we really were very lucky during a summer where sun was scarce! The trip over to Akaroa was as stunning as usual, although I'm afriad someone has taken over the renowned fish and chip shop and we were very disappointed with our fayre. The upside being we all discovered we liked Elephant Fish as that is all they had on offer (no Akaroa Blue Cod which is our fav.) Hopefully someone will bring the fish and chips back up to scratch...

A few of Dad's photo's of Akaroa:-

Again, the weather was stunning for our trip to Lake Coleridge, one of Warren and I's favourite local spots to take Summer on a walk.
