Our House is now a Home

All of our belongings that we didn't sell or Ebay off in the UK have now arrived and the house is feeling more like a home. The back room, however, which is housing all the stuff we can't use or "house" yet (mostly books!), is the designated junk room.

MAF decided we looked like an honest, law abiding couple and didn't charge us a cent nor did they open anything. Good - that's extra beer money! (or Monteiths money - Warren's new found beer-friend!!). After arriving in the country the boxes took just 10 days to be delivered to our door.

We've bought a few items of furniture - mainly recycled rimu which we love - and as the house is made from recycled rimu it fits in nicely.

Here are some photos of the house as it is at the moment - we start decorating tomorrow. It only needs a lick of paint.

The amount of "stuff" that we have unpacked is unreal! We thought we'd ditched all the superfluous junk but we still seem to have alot of it! We'll have to have a garage sale - which is what the Kiwi's LOVE to do on a weekend. The Brits have car boots sales and the Kiwi's have garage sales. You basically sell your gear from, yes you guessed it, your garage! There are loads all over town every weekend! You need to get up early though, they start at around 8am and our neighbour had people knocking on their door at 7am!!

I digress.

Crockery. How much does one couple need? We have enough crockery and cutlery to cater for the whole of Christchurch and still have spare sideplates! We just can't believe how much we had accumulated.

We're off to the Hermitage at Mount Cook again on Friday. I have a biz meeting with the manager on Friday afternoon and we've been given free accommodation and dinner/brekkie etc too.

I'll post more on the house in future posts.

Oh, but wait, I forgot to post one more photo of the house - Mike, here's your bedroom.. it WILL be done in time, honest....
