New Brighton Beach

We thought we'd miss Sumner beach, but now we've been using Brighton beach we actually prefer it! It's so long and deserted most of the time. There's a great bike track along the dunes which goes north towards Bottle Lake Forest Park which has km's of mountain bike and walking tracks. http://www.ccc.govt.nz/Parks/NaturalAreas/bottlelake_recreation.asp

The beach is a 0.8km walk from the house through Rawhiti Domain (our local park), across Marine Parade and over the dunes.

This first picture is looking north along the beach towards the pier. The second is taken from north of the pier looking south with Scarborough Hills / Banks Peninsula hills in the background. You can see the pier in the high resolution version.

Our Container from the UK arrives in NZ...

On Sunday 8th May our container, containing 68 boxes, arrived in New Zealand. All our personal possessions (and more importantly for Warren, our gadgets!) are now on NZ soil.

We now have to wait until Customs have done their checks, then the boxes will be delivered to our home. However, we can't open any boxes until MAF (Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries) have been to the house - they will then open up random boxes and check for any dodgy goods!

Will let you know how it goes!

Oh, and we have a new camera so will get snapping about the house and garden.
